Imant Raminsh: Sower

The Sower is the ssecond movement from 'Songs of the Lights'. Based on Navajo text the piece is developed rfom the opening s olo call 'I hold pollen of dawn in my hand.... The chorus responds with the same chant-like motive extended and developed bu the soprano and alto voices. While the rhythmic figure repeats similarly throughout the piece the matter characteristically changes from 4/4 to 3/4 to 2/4 in order to maintain a simple and sustained chant quality in the melody.
