Haydn's 200th anniversary: Concertos

Haydn's 200th anniversary: Concertos
Mark the 200th anniversary of Haydn's death with his complete concertos on score and CD

Joseph Haydn was one of the most important, prolific and prominent composers of the classical period. He is often called the "Father of the Symphony" and the "Father of the String Quartet" because of his important contributions to these genres, and was also instrumental in the evolution of what is commonly known as the 'sonata form'.

To mark the 200th anniversary of Haydn's death, we are highlighting his complete works on score and CD.

The new 6-disc box set from Naxos includes all the surviving concertos, including the popular Cello Concerto No 2 and Trumpet Concerto, as well as some of the works which have been attributed to the composer. A definite must for all Haydn lovers!

'Helmut Muller-Br hl and his modern-instrument Cologne Chamber Orchestra record frequently for Naxos and this is one of their best Haydn outings supporting the soloist with energy and style.' -- Classics Today
